After a 50-year career working alongside legends such as The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters and John Mayer, photographer Dick Waterman is finally getting his first exhibition in New York City: “Dick Waterman: A Photographic Half-Century of Influential Musicians and Musings.” The exhibition, which runs April 21 to May 12, 2011 in Chelsea Market, showcases many of the unpublished photographs Waterman captured while touring alongside his famous subjects.

The exhibit’s opening reception will be held on April 21 from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. complete with live musicians and vinyls playing throughout Chelsea Market’s main concourse. Buffalo Trace Bourbon Whiskey is the exclusive liquor sponsor. As the exclusive beer sponsor, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery will debut its newest brew, “Hellhound,” a tribute to the 100th birthday of Mississippi Delta bluesman Robert Johnson. In addition, Dogfish Head’s Midas Touch and 60 Minute IPA brews will also be on tap.

The exhibit will grace Chelsea Market’s main concourse with previously unpublished photos that depict music-world heavyweights including Bob Dylan (during his early years, from 1963-1965), Janis Joplin, Ray Charles, B. B. King, Son House, Skip James and Buddy Guy, as well as othermusicians managed by Waterman during the course of his career as a music agent, manager, producer and promoter. In addition, Waterman will showcase a collection of on- and off-stage images taken of The Rolling Stones during an eight-week stint on its 1970 tour, in the thick of a period considered by many to be the band’s prime.
